People often forget the most important thing before they leave for a night out – locking their house up. You’d think it’s a commonsense thing to remember to do, but it’s more often commonly forgotten, which can lead to trouble. In the day and age where smartphones and social media are king, criminals are taking advantage of people who aren’t paying attention with all these distractions.

For instance, if you check in on a social media site and post a status about where you’ll be or where you are at night, thieves can see this public information and break into your home when it’s empty. And if you’ve accidentally left your doors unlocked, imagine how easy it will be for them to get in and take what they please with no resistance.

However, technology like smartphones can also work in your favor to avoid situations like these. If you have a home security system, you can easily monitor and manage your security system with home automation and remote access. This technology lets you lock your door and set your alarm after you’ve left your house with functions on your smartphone. This way, nothing’s left up to chance and you can enjoy your night out knowing your home is safe.

So remember – the most important thing is making sure your home is secure before you ever even step foot out the door!

Crime has become apart of every day life. It is seen almost every time you flip through the channels of your TV screen. Does it make you question your safety and security? Well one of the best ways to fend off crime and other social dilemmas is the “Buddy System.” Everyone remembers being in elementary school and going on a class field trip. Hopefully you were assigned a buddy to accompany you along the trip and that same buddy you were accountable for when you returned back to the bus. This same “Buddy system” can help you or someone else you know become less susceptible to crime. It is a fact that women who walk home alone are more prone to be attacked or mugged than a woman who is walking with someone else. Attackers are not stupid, they know that 2:1 would not be as easy as 1:1, so use the Buddy system when walking alone or when you go out to other social gatherings. Whether it is a bar or a party, never go in or leave alone if you want to be as safe as possible. It makes sense,, anyone who sees you with another person will not attempt to do you any harm. The buddy system may still seem elementary to you, but it can still be used in the adult world as a resourceful safety technique.
